PERUGIA AND ETRURIA - FROM THE CENTRE OF THE TOWN UNTIL TRASIMENO LAKE

Description

Not everyone knows that Umbria was the land of Etruscan. Tiber served as border between Etruria – to the west of its banks – and Umbria – to the east. It was above all the centre for the exchange of goods and products. Our Umbrian tour starts here, in the district of Ponte San Giovanni where you can find the majestic tomb of a patrician family, which is called “Hypogeum of the Volumnus Family”.

You can't miss the visit of Perugia, the town that retains the traces of the ancient people more than any other. Indeed you can admire its strong and solid outsidewalls, whose longevity is determined by the location in the territory. When you visit the Etruscan Arch, which still faces the northern wind of Tramontane, you will feel a sensation of greatness and solemnity; visiting the Etruscan wheel will be a unique sensation: when you go down the building, you will listen to drops of water that will make you feel as you were in a metropolitan cave.

Etruscan in Perugia are this and much more: from the acropolis which is located under the cloister of the Dom to the National Archaeological Museum of Umbria.

Obviously you will also visit Trasimeno Lake as the Lake served as a connection among Perugia, Chiusi and Cortona. The testimonies are numerous: from the cinerary urns to the shrines such as “Santa Maria di Ancaella” and “Sant'Arcangelo in Magione”.

These excursions are suitable both for people who discover these sceneries for the first time and for people who already know them but they would like to discover it under an other point of view.
